Devlog 13

This week in class, we figured out what our game is going to be. We figured a cops and robbers type of game where each player (out of 4) is going to be taking the role of a robber who took place in crimes ranging from robbing people individually, robbing gas stations, banks, and museums. We got the overall plot of the game set out and our materials are all set too. I must say, the idea portion of this assignment was tough. I think that it is mainly because of the fact that this is our final project, and we were overthinking a lot of it. The videos that I watched for this week for the Devlog were very insightful. One of the things mentioned in it was the aspect of learning more about player functionality as players play the game. For instance, maybe they will learn some tricks from a previous mistake they made. Designing Great UX into your Game Board and Pieces. For the second part of this Devlog, I will be discussing a game that I found on a YouTube channel called Watch it Played with Rodney Smith called General Orders: WW2. Something that I found interesting was the actions in the game. For instance, players can either fly, bomb, take-off, and conflict with other planes. It was making me think of some possible actions for my game such as robbing, shooting, running, evading arrest, etc. I hope to come back to class in a couple of weeks with a perfect ironed-out game plan.
